SUMMARY: LC 33 6766

"Blue Star Family Scholarship Act". Would allow parents who are active duty military, members of the Georgia National Guard, or a reservist in the military who are stationed in Georgia to establish an education savings account for their children. Funds from this account may be used for qualifying educational expenses including future post-secondary education. 

The Office of Student Achievement would deposit into an account an amount equivalent to the costs of the educational program that would have been provided for such student if he or she were enrolled in the local school system. The amount deposited would not include any federal funds.
